Mental Health Awareness Post

So, I had other plans about blog posts this week, but this one seemed more important to get out of my head. I want to talk about mental health. A lot of people think my blog is all about sex, and that just isn't true. I want to help people to know and love their bodies and their minds. It's really quite difficult to love one without loving the other. Not to mention, it can affect how we interact with other people. Mental health is difficult. We try to pretend it isn't everywhere, it isn't important. It's hard because when someone has a cold or the flu, we see their symptoms, we can empathize and help them in little ways. Mental disorders are a lot of the time invisible. We can't see that a person is struggling. And a lot of people only believe things are real if they can see them. I've struggled my whole life with people not believing my anxiety and depression are real. And it's hard to convince other people when you can barely place it yourself. Why a...

The Sex Kitten's List of Favorite Feminine Products

Next month, I will have been bleeding for 13 years (not straight, obviously). In that time, I have tried many products--some I liked, some I didn't. There are even more products available now than there were over 10 years ago, which is great. It means that there should be something that works for every changing body. Here is my list of the things I have tried, and what works for me. Please keep in mind that certain things don't work for everyone--what I like to use, you may not, and vice versa. Try out all that you can to find out what works for you!! ********************************************************************************* Pads Natracare Organic Panty Liners These are the liners that I use and have used for years. I have extremely sensitive skin, and most well-known feminine pads irritate my skin and leave me in pain and extremely uncomfortable. These ones don't! I don't even notice they are there. I found them on this website, LuckyVitamin , for rea...

May is Masturbation Month!!

So, as the title says, May is Masturbation Month !! Despite what you may have heard growing up, masturbating is actually good for you. No, really . It can help you learn your own body better, help increase your ability to have orgasms, help you sleep better, relieve cramps and stress, etc. It can increase your self esteem and make you feel good about yourself, and in general. Seriously, it's a great thing to do. Plus, it feels good. I don't think I need to convince you anymore, but in case I do... According to a study, in the past year, 83% of men and 71% of women ages 25-29 (the most common ages of my readers) have masturbated. That's a lot. Basically, most people masturbate at least once in their lives. The percentages dip down a bit in the early teens and late 60's and 70's, but not even by that much.  There are so many ways to masturbate. You can use your fingers or toys, read or watch porn, rub up against something. Everyone experiences it differentl...

Love Yourself

I thought long and hard about whether or not to post this. I like to advertise myself as an open book, but being overly personal (especially on the internet) does freak me out, a bit. But I've gotten such amazing, motivating feedback since yesterday that I've decided to try and share my 'story' or whatever I should call it. When I was younger, I was that kid that everyone made fun of for being so skinny. Lots of people told me to eat more, which I thought was crazy, because I ate so much. I just had a fast metabolism. I also had no shape. I hit puberty early, but it didn't hit me. I joked about my non-existent boobs all throughout high school, and it wasn't until I was around 21-22 that people started telling me my jokes didn't work anymore because I had a chest. My doctor put me on a special diet around the age of 13-14 due to my high cholesterol. I was limited to three 'treats' a week. After a few months of that, I was given the all-clear and w...

International Women's Day!!

Happy International Women's Day, everyone! We all have reason to celebrate this day--either you are a woman, or you were birthed by one. How exciting. The first International Women's Day (here on out referred to as IWD) was held in 1911. Women have been the supporting characters to men's lives all throughout history. It's only been in the last hundred or so years that women have risen up and tried to gain full equality. Women didn't even gain the right to vote until 1920--that wasn't even one hundred years ago!! This is all still so recent. Today, celebrate the wonderful women in your life. If you are a woman, celebrate yourself!! You deserve it!! :) If you so desire, the  International Women's Day website  has an option to pledge your part in speeding up gender parity! You can offer up what you will do to help the cause :) Here are some of my favorite women to celebrate today: Joan of Arc She led the French Army to victor...

Sexual Assault Statistic--video!!

For those of you that don't like to read and would rather watch a quick video, I made one to highlight the facts in my last post. Check it out!! **TRIGGER WARNING** This video talks about assault/rape.

Life after Sexual Abuse

**TRIGGER WARNING** This post talks about assault/rape. I didn't watch the Oscars. I didn't even really hear much about the Oscars. What I did hear, though, was that Lady Gaga's performance was amazing. Her song Til It Happens To You is about sexual assault, and she drove her point home by having tons of survivors of sexual assault and abuse stand up on stage with her. Proceeds from sales from the song are going to organizations that help prevent abuse and support survivors. I watched the music video for the song and it was pretty hard to watch. I love that so many people are talking about this right now. We need to stop brushing things like this under the table and making people who are suffering feel like they need to keep quiet about it. The shame and guilt is something we need to address and fix, not let fester quietly until it becomes worse. Let's start out with some facts: (Facts are from RAINN , USA Today , and a study by the AAU ) --23.1% of women i...
